講題Topic：Events, probability, and independence
摘要Abstract: This talk introduces the basic concepts of probability theory. We define an event as a subset of a sample space, and probability as a frequency of the event. We also define a conditional probability as a frequency of the event within a given subset defined by a conditioning event. Some numerical examples are given for illustrations. Finally, the concept of independence is introduced and its applications to statistics are overviewed.
